Project Buraindo

Meaning of Buraindo

Buraindo is the Japanese word for blinds. The founder, Kevin Miller (Matsunaga), learned, through one documentary about the Kodokushi, that one elderly woman used her blinds to signal her neighbor that she was still alive.

If her blinds were not open, then that meant she most likely passed away.

Miller told this story to his friend. During the discussion, his friend suggested naming the project “Project Blinds”. Miller then translated this project name into Japanese, which became "Project Buraindo."

Minimal Viable Product

We will design an MVP using SvelteKit and Supabase. All data will be stored on the edge platforms. In our case, with Vercel. The initial prototype will fetch APIs from various fitness trackers for testing.

We still have not decided on which tracker to use for our project. Our ultimate aim for our product is to have our tracking system predict when a client “may” pass away. This is hoping to have people nearby for our client’s last hours.

Project Buraindo Strategy

Project Buraindo will consist of the following key elements for its project:

Use of 5G networks

5G is critical for LIVE data IoT tracking (4G acceptable). Mobile phones can be used in the early stages of the project.

Affordable Wearable

Gathering vitals including heart rate, respiration, and body temperature, need to be affordable.

Monitoring Camera

Centrally located camera will be activated based on person's vitals. Camera will also be used as a form of communication, if necessary.

Blockchain Protection

All data will be stored in the blockchain and IPFS for security purposes. Access will be agreed upon by clients and vendors.

Machine Learning

AI will be used to analyze the data for predictions based on tracking vitals of clients.

Minidrones or Robots

The minidrone or robot can be placed in apartments for monitoring. They will be able to collect more vitals and data, if necessary.

Area Drones

If 5G is not accessible, the drones can fly and direct bandwidth to the clients when an alert is triggered by their vital signs.

Collaboration

Can work with volunteer organizations and businesses that already interact with our targetted groups.

Sustainable Development Goals

Project Buraindo aligns with the UN Sustainable Goals 3, "Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages."
